Police Record Check (PRC) for Volunteers
Parents who wish to volunteer during activities where they are in direct contact with children must obtain a Police Record Check (PRC) for a vulnerable sector in order to be eligible to volunteer.
Several activities led by South Hull Home and School (not all) require volunteers to be in direct contact with the children (ex. Movie nights).
IF you have completed a PRC for a school field trip or an event at South Hull, you probably already have one! Please confirm this with Linda or Amélie at the front office.
IF you have completed a PRC in the last two years, bring this document to the front office and they can make a copy and add you to their list of parents with a valid PRC. Make sure it indicates for a vulnerable sector (ex. children, seniors, etc.).
How do I apply for a Police Record Check for a vulnerable sector?
1. Speak with Linda or Amélie at the front office to obtain a letter that confirms you will be volunteering at South Hull. Home and School also has a copy of this letter if need be.
2. Make your way to any police station (all police stations should be able to help you obtain a PRC, but it may be quicker at the Boulevard de la Carrière location). Explain that you wish to obtain a police record check for a vulnerable sector (children) and that this is a volunteer position.
3. You will need 2 pieces of ID (ex. Driver’s license, passport).
4. Once you have completed and submitted the form required, it may take up to 20 days to obtain your PRC. Please request this document as soon as possible so you do not miss out on any volunteering opportunities!
Please note that if you wish to do an accelerated request, fees may apply.
